Submit to Spotify

Submitting your podcast to Spotify gives your show access to one of the most widely used audio platforms in the world. The process involves making sure your podcast is ready, copying your RSS feed URL from the plugin, and submitting that URL through Spotify for Podcasters. This tutorial walks you through each step.

Contents

Before You Submit

Spotify validates your RSS feed when you submit it. Make sure each of the following is in place before you proceed.

Podcast artwork

Go to Podcasts → All Podcasts, open your podcast, and check the Podcast Artwork field on the Podcast Details tab. Spotify requires a square image of at least 1400×1400 pixels in JPEG or PNG format. The image must be hosted at a publicly accessible URL.

Podcast title and description

Make sure your podcast has a title and a description entered in the main content editor fields at the top of the podcast edit screen. Spotify displays both on your show’s listing page in the app.

RSS feed settings

On the Distribution tab of your podcast, fill in the Author Name, Author Email, and Podcast Language fields under RSS Feed. Spotify uses these to identify your show and contact you if needed. See the Configuring Your RSS Feed tutorial for full details on each field.

At least one published episode

Spotify requires your feed to contain at least one published episode with a valid audio file. Make sure you have published at least one episode with an audio file attached before submitting.

Copy Your RSS Feed URL

Go to Podcasts → All Podcasts and open the podcast you want to submit. In the Podcast Info panel below the content editor, click the Distribution tab. The RSS Feed URL field at the top of that tab shows your podcast’s feed address. Click Copy RSS Feed to copy the URL to your clipboard.

Keep this URL ready — you will paste it into Spotify for Podcasters in the next step.

Submit Through Spotify for Podcasters

Spotify podcast submissions are handled through the Spotify for Podcasters portal at podcasters.spotify.com. You will need a free Spotify account to sign in. If you do not have one, create it on the Spotify website before continuing — a paid subscription is not required.

Once signed in, click Get Started and choose the option to add your podcast using an existing RSS feed. Paste your RSS feed URL into the field provided and click Next. Spotify will read your feed and display a preview showing your podcast title, artwork, description, and episodes.

Review the preview to confirm everything appears correctly. If any information is missing or incorrect, return to your podcast in the plugin, update the relevant fields, click Update, and then re-enter your feed URL in Spotify for Podcasters to refresh the preview.

Once the preview looks correct, Spotify will ask you to verify ownership of the podcast by sending a confirmation email to the author email address set in your RSS feed settings. Open that email and click the verification link to confirm ownership and complete the submission.

Spotify typically makes newly submitted podcasts available within a few hours to a couple of days. Once your show is live, you can find it by searching for the title in the Spotify app.

Add a Spotify Subscribe Button

Once your podcast is live on Spotify, you can add a subscribe button to your podcast page so that visitors can open your show directly in the Spotify app.

Go to Podcasts → All Podcasts and open your podcast. On the Podcast Details tab, expand the Subscribe Buttons accordion and click Add Subscribe Button. A new row will appear with two fields.

  • In the first field, open the platform dropdown and select Spotify.
  • In the second field, enter the URL of your podcast on Spotify. You can find this URL in the Spotify for Podcasters dashboard under your show’s details, or by searching for your show in the Spotify app, tapping the three-dot menu, and selecting Share to copy the link.

Click Update to save. The Spotify subscribe button will now appear on your podcast page, and visitors to your website can click it to open your show directly in Spotify.
